Discrete Light Emitting Diodes - Radial Leaded Styles: The Lumex offering of LEDs with led frame radial leads and epoxy lenses is by far the most complete in the market. It offers 76 packages and over 735 parts for the designer to select and comes as close to an ideal part without tooling a custom lens to emit light in the most desirable angle and intensity. All of these products are made in an open-ended casting using a lead frame which carries the chip that is connected reliably via die attachment and wire bonding high-speed techniques. The lead frame is then dipped into epoxy casting molds and filled with the desired epoxy mix and cured. If none of the available parts meet the application, Lumex can assist and tool a mold to create a lens to your needs. Chip technologies are endless from available colors, brightness and light emission patters of your choice. Besides single chip LEDs, Lumex can offer bi-color, bi-polar (A.C.) and resistor-in-the-LED styles at very reasonable costs. High Power LEDs: High Power LEDs need to draw currents upwards of 120mA to support the light output at the specified levels. This is the most critical issue for these LEDs as they need to dissipate the excess heat generated and to avoid heating up the chip junctions and subsequent early failures. All Lumex High Power LEDs have been tested extensively at the rated power inputs to assure reliable operations. This is an ever-expanding family of products with constant introductions of new models and ever increasing light output levels. SMT Discrete Visible LEDs: The Lumex family of SMT Visible LEDs is comprised of 60 styles and over 320 discrete parts. Attaching and wire bonding a chip on a substrate is a relatively easy process, but when it needs to be done at high speeds and then a protective or optically active lens needs to cover the chips, only the very best can do it reliably. The packages available utilize substrate carriers ranging from precision ceramics to high temperature special PCBs and high temperature molded housings. This is by far the largest collection for the designer of package LEDs and chips-on-board light bars. Lumex's 28 year tenure in the market is the longest, uninterrupted presences that contribibutes to the continuing development of these types of LED assemblies. Lumex offers over 100 standard parts within three main categories. There are glass panel numeric or pictogram displays with no intelligence as part of the of the supplied part. Numeric displays are available all the way to eight digits. Character modules are available in 8 x 1 all the way up to 40 x 4 lines of digits with all electronics as part of the module for a true plug-and-play part. There are graphic modules with 122 x 32 all the way up to 642 x 480 dots with all circuitry as part of the module for a true, ready to use graphic module.
